Jay climate task force advances grant-funded initiatives

NY JAY — Jay Climate Smart Community Task Force advances infrastructure initiatives. The task force, comprising Olivia Dwyer, John Culpepper, Wally Walters, and Knut Sauer, reported that electric vehicle chargers in Jay and Upper Jay are installed and ready to go live by the end of the week pending final SIM card and networking account setup. An Au Sable Forks EV charger project awaits contract completion and NYSEG coordination on power capacity.

A state-funded compost pilot program with contracts for hauling and education outreach is expected to launch by July. The task force reviewed a comprehensive plan update incorporating climate considerations and expressed interest in pursuing a transfer station facility in Jay.
