Town Board Adopts Senior Tax Exemption Law

NY JAY — Jay Town Board adopts senior income-eligibility law for property tax relief. Supervisor Matt Stanley and the board adopted Local Law #1 of 2026, redefining income thresholds for residents 65 and older claiming partial real property tax exemptions and amending prior Local Law #2 of 2025. The board approved audited bills totaling $1,096,378.82 and committed $8,000 from occupancy tax to sponsor a six-concert series through the UJ Art Center, made free to residents.

Wastewater facility upgrades continue with the board authorizing over $100,000 in invoice prepayments for engineering and construction work.
