Economic Development Committee forms short-term rental task force

NY JAY — Jay Economic Development Committee establishes Short-Term Rental Task Force. The committee formed the task force, to be chaired by Matt Stanley and Deputy Supervisor Tom McDonald, to assess impacts on housing affordability, school budgets, and property assessments. County data shows over 200 active short-term rentals in town.
The CDBG Microenterprise Program awarded $29,290.38 to two businesses in Round 1; one application requesting $35,000 is pending state approval. CDBG Housing Rehabilitation funding is fully committed to two projects in Jay proper and Au Sable Forks. The committee scaled back its Wi-Fi expansion plan and recommended gateway signage at three town entrances.
